I had been using an electric water warmer I had inherited from a former room mate but it seemed to reduce the heat applied to the water as soon as it reached the boiling point. I decided it would be better to have one I can put on the oven burner and keep it as hot as I like, and not have to worry about what a thermostat wants to do. I bought this tea kettle off the shelf while shopping at my local supermarket, thinking it would do and I liked the idea of having a whistle to indicate the water was ready. I was saddened to find that it never actually attained a whistle because so much steam was escaping around the fill hole lid on the top center portion, which happens to be also right where you need to put your hand in order to pick it up, a rather scary thought. So, I am contemplating returning it because I don't see myself wanting to ever use it, considering these less than desirable attributes.

This product is good for making casseroles, gratins, mac and cheese, roasting veggies, etc. but I would never consider roasting meat, fowl, etc. or anything that might render off hot fat. The thing just collapses too easily when any pressure is put on the rim. If the pan is filled with dense food product its fine, but I can see taking a piping hot roast out of the oven. setting the foldtuk on the counter, applying too much pressure as I set it down, and having the thing collapse and hot fat spilling out all over me and the floor! Nice enough to keep and not send back, but beware if using it for the family bird/roast. The lid also doesn't quite fit on the bottom the way it is advertised, to seal in flavor, etc. Once again, take the lid off to baste the bird and then put the lid back on, apply too much pressure, the bottom collapses in on itself, and hot turkey fat....well, you can get the possible horrifying scenario. My family eats a lot of stove-top popcorn, and applying melted butter has been a messy multi-step process. This lid fits all the pans we used for popcorn, medium and large. Since the lid does not fit tightly, popping takes longer but everything is buttered and ready to eat as soon as it is done. I turn the buttering cup backward and screw everything back together to wash in the dishwasher.

I ordered a 6 piece Excelsteel colander set and was notified 24 hours later that the company will not ship it after I had paid for the product and shipping and handling. Their is still 1 left now. So Why do they refuse people after they place and pay for their order??
